If you’re looking for chain link fence installation or repair in the Brampton, Oakville, or Toronto areas, we at City Fence are experts\n on the subject. Our mission is to provide our customers with the best service we can so you’ll come back to us for all your fencing needs for years\n to come. This service includes giving you some helpful advice about maintaining your fence so you need to spend as little on its upkeep as possible.

\n

Your chain link fence, like the rest of your property in the Greater Toronto Area, is an investment of your time\n and money. To get the most out of your dollar, however, you need to pay a little attention to your investment every once in a while to make sure it\n isn’t damaged or losing its value in some way.

\n

No matter if you have a large chain link fence that protects a commercial property, or a small chain link fence to divide your property, you should periodically\n make a complete inspection of your fencing.

\n

What should I be looking for when inspecting my fence?

\n

Chain link fences are pretty sturdy but the primary things you’ll be looking for are any damage to the protective covering for your fence (typically its\n paint or vinyl covering) and if any rust has formed on the metal.

\n

Just like your car or any other metal object you own, rust happens when metal is exposed to oxygen and moisture for a long time. If water is present, oxygen\n can chemically combine with metals like iron to create rust, effectively eating away at things like fences at an atomic level. That coat of paint or\n vinyl that might be covering your chain link fence does more than make it look nice. They keep moisture away from the iron in your chain link fence,\n keeping it it from rusting.

\n

What can I do about problems I see?

\n

The best way to keep moisture away from your fence is to make sure the coating on your fence is complete. Even a small break in its protection can let\n moisture in to corrode the metal. Any problems should be fixed quickly.

\n

If there is any rust, you should deal with it immediately. One problem with chemical reactions like rusting is that they cannot be reversed. They can only\n be stopped. Any rust that has formed should be sanded off the metal and the metal should be treated with an anti-rusting solution before the paint\n is reapplied.

\n

You will not experience these problems with a fence from City Fence

\n

The above problems are quite frustrating to deal with, at City Fence; we understand that these problems are quite frustrating. That is why we use chain\n link fencing that has a galvanized coating to reduce the risk of rust. If you are exhibiting this on your fence and would like a repair in Brampton,\n Oakville, Bolton, or Toronto areas, be sure to call our experts today at 416-506-0135. We are always happy to help you solve\n your commercial fencing problems!

When you step outside in winter, your first thought might not be that this is a good time to install a chain link fence in the Toronto, Bolton, Brampton\n or Oakville areas. Chances are, when dealing with the worst of a Canadian winter, preparing for the summer months is probably the furthest thing from\n your mind. This might be a missed opportunity, however.

\n

At City Fence, we’re experts in chain link fence installation and repair in the Toronto, Brampton\n and Oakville areas. Winter may, in fact, be the perfect time to get around to installing that fence you’ve always wanted. Whether it’s just in your\n backyard to keep your children safely on your property or around your commercial property to give your employees a sense of security, chain link fences\n are a great way to increase security in Toronto.

\n

As long as the ground is not frozen solid, it’s entirely possible to set up a chain link fence on your property. Here are just a few reasons that the winter\n may be the perfect time to call your commercial fencing experts in Toronto:

\n
    \n
  • No wait\n
It’s true that most people only think of getting a fence installed during the summer. That means that to get the highest quality fence and fence\n installation service from your local Toronto fence experts, you’ll probably have to be placed on a waiting list of some kind. By opting to get\n it installed in the winter, you’ll avoid the rush.
  • \n
  • No interference\n
During the busy season, fencing contractors have a lot of customers to juggle. This can mean that contractors might not be able to do the job on\n your schedule. By hiring them in the winter, however, you’re much more likely to get contractors on your own schedule.
  • \n
  • Seasonal deals\n
Because contractors generally don’t have as much work in the winter months, they often offer great deals to increase demand for their services.\n Keep your eyes peeled for these kinds of deals. They’re an easy way to save a lot of money.
  • \n
  • You’ll be ready for the summer months\n
By the time the summer rolls around, you’ll want to make the most of it. If you wait for the summer months to get a fence installed, you may lose\n precious weeks of summer to construction.

A physical perimeter plays an extremely important role in keeping your property, assets, employees, and community safe. Here are a few important things\n you should know about security fencing:

\n
    \n
  • Fence Placement – Security fences are commonly used for both domestic and commercial properties. These fences can be installed in\n places such as around the home, office, warehouses, inventory control centres, rooftops, parks, and more. Our security fences are the perfect solution\n to create a barrier between your property and the surrounding area.
  • \n
  • Quality of Fencing – Not all security fences on the market are made from high-quality materials. Fortunately, quality is one of our\n top priorities when it comes to every type of fencing systems we offer. Our security fences are designed to withstand the elements, so you don’t\n have to worry about rusting or excessive and frequent repairs.
  • \n
  • Security Features – There are specific details you must consider when installing a security fence. For instance, fence placement is\n extremely important. Ideally, you should eliminate trees and install the fence away from cars or anything that can be used by intruders to help\n them climb over. The height of your fence is also a significant factor. For commercial properties, accessories such as security panels can be added\n to your existing fence for extra protection.

Construction sites are often vast, open spaces that can pose a safety risk to individuals in the area. Luckily, the government has created fencing\n bylaws to ensure that your job site is as secure as possible for the safety of both workers and the public. Failure to comply with these requirements,\n may result in significant fines and the closure of your building project. Fortunately, you don’t have to run that risk when you work with us. We will\n install, maintain, and repair your temporary construction fences as needed to help prevent injuries and ensure\n you meet all codes and regulations.

\n

A Brief Overview of Construction Fencing Bylaws

\n

Government regulations state that you must conduct your work in a manner that does not put the general public at risk. In order to legalize your construction\n zone, you must erect a fence around the perimeter of your property. Our temporary construction fences serve a dual purpose by keeping your building\n materials safe from theft, and establish boundaries to keep individuals at a safe distance from any potential job site dangers. Learn more about the\n construction fence bylaw below:

\n
    \n
  • Construction Fence Bylaw: Under Chapter 363, you must enclose your construction or demolition site with a protective fence to restrict\n access. This also includes any areas on your site where building materials and equipment are being operated or stored.
  • \n
  • General Requirements: Every construction fence is required\n by this bylaw to fully enclose the perimeter of your site, deter unauthorized persons or vehicles, feature no rails or attachments that would allow\n climbing, openings can be no more than 150 millimeters wide or less than 900 millimeters above the bottom fence (with the exception of access points),\n to be removed from your site within 30 days of your completed construction or demolition project.
  • \n
  • Fence Height: If the fence is erected between a residential zone and excavation site, the height may not be less than 1.8 metres above\n the grade. Furthermore, fencing that is installed around a construction site that is located on residential property, must have a height greater\n than 1.2 metres.

Construction sites are littered with potential hazards but minimizing the safety risks may be as simple as installing a temporary fence. A construction fence plays an important role in maintaining a safe environment, regardless of the phase your building project is in. In order to reduce the\n likelihood of security incidents or personal injury, our team will work with you directly to help design, install, and maintain a proper fence for\n your Toronto area job site.

4 Reasons to Install Temporary Construction Fencing

\n

Temporary fencing is an effective solution for keeping your construction site secure and protecting the general\n public. Our team will evaluate your job site and customize a construction fence to appropriately suit your needs. Here are 4 reasons why a fence is\n a necessary part of your construction project:

\n
    \n
  • Protect the Public: Proper maintenance will ensure that the vulnerable public remains safe, especially if your construction site is\n in a heavily populated area. All access points should have a locking system in place. You must also make sure that your fence is high enough to\n prevent objects from falling over the site boundary and surrounds any excavations that people may fall into.
  • \n
  • Prevent Equipment Theft: Valuable equipment that is left on unfinished construction sites are easy targets for thieves. Installing\n and properly maintaining a security fence around the perimeter of your construction site, will help ward off criminals and keep your building materials\n safe.
  • \n
  • Property Access: Contracted individuals may have permission to work within the construction site but they may not be granted access\n to areas that do not pertain to their job. Maintaining your construction fence will ensure that workers are given restricted access to certain\n locations around the site.
  • \n
  • Legal Responsibility: Regardless of whether or not an individual intentionally trespasses or mistakenly wanders onto your construction\n site, you may be held legally responsible for any injuries sustained on your property. Installing a security fence will ensure you avoid failing to take the necessary steps to keep individuals safe. If a person makes it past your fence and gets injured, you\n may not be held responsible because you have taken reasonable precautions to prevent these instances from occurring.

Contact City Fence today for more details!", "body": "

\nNeed commercial fencing? Most fencing companies will offer you both fence rental and purchase in Toronto—and there are advantages and disadvantages to both.\n

\n

\nLet’s take a look at five factors to consider when deciding between the rental and purchase of commercial fencing:\n

\n
    \n
  1. Project duration. Is your installation permanent or in place for a long time? If yes, then buying the commercial fence is probably your best bet. The fencing will likely pay itself off over the long haul. If, however, you only need the fencing for a specific event or for a short while, then the convenience and lower up-front cost of fence rental in Toronto is hard to beat.
  2. \n
  3. Project repetition. Is your need for commercial fencing in Toronto a one-time thing or do you expect more of the same in the future? This is another important consideration. If you will need the same fencing repeatedly in the future, then purchase rather than fence rental in Toronto might be the way to go. Over the long run, the cost per use will likely be lower if you buy the commercial fencing in Toronto.
  4. \n
  5. Inventory management. One of the big advantages of fence rental in Toronto is not having to manage the inventory. Convenience is by far the biggest advantage of fence rental. Fencing companies specialize in fence installation and tear-down: they’ll drive it in, set it up, tear it down and take it away. You won’t have to lift a finger! If you buy the fence, however, you have to hire a crew to transport, set up and tear down and you need the space to store the fencing between uses. No small consideration!
  6. \n
  7. Cash-flow. Buying a commercial fence entails a big cash outlay. Rental, however, is pay-per-use and written off as a project expense, which simplifies your bookkeeping and does away with the need to lock up your money in a long-term capital purchase.
  8. \n
  9. Option availability. When you opt for fence rental in Toronto, you maintain the flexibility to pick and choose among the many rental options available—like shade cloth, gates, privacy screens, number of panels and padlocks—as you need them, without having to buy them. Another money-saver!

\nSome aspects of the Ontario Trespass to Property Act (TPA) may surprise you!\n

\n

\nLet’s take a closer look at the TPA and what role commercial fence installation in Toronto can play in helping you control access to your property:\n

\n
    \n
  • What is trespassing? In a nutshell, you are trespassing if you enter a property where entry is prohibited without the expressed permission of the occupier, you engage in a prohibited activity on the premises, or you refuse to leave immediately when asked to do so by an authorised person. Normally, trespassing is a provincial offence much like speeding. However, trespassing at night or resisting arrest (see below) can upgrade the transgression to a criminal offense.
  • \n
  • How many signs do you need? What should they say? The TPA states that a sign that can be easily seen in daylight “from the approach to the ordinary point of access to the premises” is sufficient. You can write out the specific restrictions or have a graphic representation of the prohibited activity on the sign(s), but a large red dot at least 10cm in diameter is sufficient to warn that entry is prohibited.
  • \n
  • Other ways of knowing that a property is off-limits. If it grows, keep off! Lawns, orchards, vineyards, cultivated fields—these are all considered restricted access areas and no signage is necessary. Also, any property that is enclosed—surrounded by a fence, hedge or wall, for example—is considered, de facto, a restricted property. In other words, commercial fencing or other type of fence installation around your property in Toronto is sufficient to delimit it as being off-limits—signage optional. For more information on trespassing laws and commercial fencing, call a reputed fencing company in Toronto.
  • \n
  • Arrest. It is true that an authorised person (e.g., you as occupier of premises or a security guard in your employ) has the right to make a citizen’s arrest of a trespasser. But remember, if you decide to arrest a trespasser, you are obliged to hand them over to the police—you cannot “change your mind”! If they leave after you arrest them, they are officially resisting arrest and suddenly a provincial offence escalates to a criminal offence implying court dates, possible jail time and a criminal record. Use your judgement—unless you suspect criminal activity, sometimes just getting the trespasser(s) to leave is your best bet.
