Keep it lubed
An automatic gate has many moving gears and parts. Over time, dirt and debris can clog the machinery and cause it to slow down or stop working, requiring a gate repair. Lubricating all the parts and joints at least every six months will keep your gate working efficiently and reduce wear and tear. Add some lubricant to the chain, hinges, pulleys and screws to keep everything working smoothly.
Add a backup battery
If there’s a power outage, your automatic gate won’t work, leading to costly downtime. Adding a backup battery to the kit during your fence installation will ensure your automatic gate continues to work when the power goes out. A fully charged battery has enough energy to open and close the gate a few dozen times, potentially enough to keep things moving until the electricity starts flowing again.
Upgrade the antennae
Factory-installed automatic gate antennae typically have a range of between 30 and 45 metres. But you’re not limited to that. Upgrade your system with a high-gain antenna (HGA) that’ll give you more flexibility and freedom to control your gate. An HGA can often double the range from which you can remotely open and close your gate, which is a significant advantage for large worksites.
Go for high speed
Consider upgrading to a high-speed motor if you have a wide gate that takes a long time to open and close. A high-speed motor significantly reduces the time it takes for the gate to open and close, improving efficiency and reducing the risk of someone breaching your perimeter while it’s open.

Today’s technology gives users more freedom and control than ever before. Using an app on your smartphone, you can control your gate settings from anywhere, set automatic timers and get notifications if there are any breaches or faults in the system.
