Vehicle Access Control Options and Why You Need Them

Access control helps protect your property and should be part of your fencing and security system. It’s important to be able to restrict who can enter your job site or commercial property. Indeed, access control is a key consideration.

Consider investing in a system that can scan vehicle licence plates and compare the numbers to a preauthorized list. These systems consist of a camera, software and an access barrier. They’re often wireless so you don’t have to worry about running cables.

In many cases, it’s easiest to use a system in which authorized employees or tenants simply swipe a security card or punch in a numeric code on a keypad to gain entry.

Closed-circuit, wireless video intercom systems allow you to see and speak with anyone requesting entry at your access control gate. This way, you can restrict access without having to physically be there.

Another possibility is to install a system that uses smartphones to identify and authorize visitors. This technology allows you to specify to who has access, where they have access, what times of day they have access and records a log of everyone who has entered or exited the property.

The security gate itself can be a simple bar that raises and lowers or a more intricate construction that will co-ordinate with your existing fencing.
